Please Pull the Plug on HB 2537

how about this wire Mommy?

Mommy, don’t let those state senators ruin our business!

Call to Action!

As previously reported, the Board of Directors of the Texas Wine and Grape Growers Association is opposed to HB 2537 as it was substituted and passed out of the Senate Business and Commerce Committee for the following reasons:

It protects segments of the industry from competition rather than regulating a public health, safety or welfare issue.
It hinders revenue and growth avenues for Texas wineries.
It places undue reporting and administrative burden on small business.
It harms existing businesses that are operating within the current laws.
It sets a bad precedent of restricting rights of growing businesses.

This bill is scheduled to be on the senate intent calendar tomorrow – Tuesday, May 21

Please call your state senator’s office immediately, ask for the person who covers the Business and Commerce Committee issues. Tell them you are a constituent and the reasons you are opposed to this bill. Then ask for your senator’s support in defeating this bill when it comes to the senate floor on the intent calendar tomorrow, May 21.

If you’ve called before, call again – there are so many things happening in the capitol as the session is coming to a close that everyone is on information overload.
