Easter Ostrich Egg Decorating 2019

Please join us for the ultimate Easter keepsake and Salado wine tradition!

Buy your tickets today to decorate ostrich eggs at the Salado Winery for Easter. These ostrich eggs are keepsakes and people tend to come up with some fun conversations over wine. It’s pretty awesome.

When you join us, you’ll receive a cleaned ostrich egg. The large eggs must be prepared ahead of time by scrubbing them with vinegar and a toothbrush. June is a real diva about the whole thing, which is why we have to charge you so much. Ticket also includes decorations, paint, egg dye, and naturally, a glass of wine included from Salado Winery Company & Salado Wine Seller. You will be able to take your wine glass home as a keepsake, as well.

Three times available:

Sunday, April 14, 12-2 pm
Sunday, April 14, 2:30-4:30 pm
Thursday, April 18, 6:30-8:30 pm

Cost is $45 per person. There will be wine since it is a winery, so it’s up to each parent as to whether it is “kid-friendly”, but certainly there may be a kid there and prices are not discounted for kids. Unfortunately the ostrich egg farmer didn’t sell us discounted eggs for your awesome artist kid.

PLEASE brainstorm before you come. Look up your favorite designs on Pinterest or think about a milestone of that year. Bring some of your own decorations, if you’d like. Classes will be lead by our favorite art instructor, Angela Patrick.

Must be 21 to consume alcohol. Please bring your government issued ID to prove your age.

Tickets are now on sale on eventbrite. Invite your friends on our facebook event.

Grape Stomp and Harvest Dinner 2017

stomp those grapes!

Please join us for our 2nd annual Grape Stomp and Harvest Dinner! We will have a grape stomp competition, live music and food from Hecho en Queso. We expect this event to sell out, so don’t wait to buy your tickets, or you may end up hungry and disappointed.

There is no admission fee to attend the grape stomp and dinner. In honor of our 12th anniversary, our favorite wines will be on sale for $12. Tickets are for grape stompers and eaters.

We’ll be serving our locally made wines by the glass and bottle. Dinner will be served by Hecho en Queso. Grapes for stomping are provided by Brookshire Brothers grocery store

Our grape stomp will be the perfect opportunity to make your Instagram followers super jealous. Teams of two people will compete every 15 minutes. During your team’s turn, one person will stomp for two minutes and then the second person will stomp for two minutes. The team of two who produces the most juice wins bragging rights!

$1/ticket will be donated to the Heart of The Vine Relief Fund, which distributes gift cards to victims of the California wine country wildfires.
Tickets are non-refundable. Even if it rains, snows, sleets or whatever the great state of Texas comes up with for weather. This event will be outdoors and and under a tent.

Kids are welcome and #Winerycat insists that dogs must be on a leash.

NO outside alcohol may be brought in. That means you cannot bring beer, wine, distilled spirits or moonshine. Please no sneaking in alcohol…this is not your high school prom, thank you!

Sorry, “wine tasting” will not be available during this event, just wine by the glass or bottle.

Gaze, Nosh and Peruse–July 2nd, 6-9 pm

hop on by for a great summer evening!

hop on by for a great summer evening!

Art Opening Reception for John Davis, a visit from the gnomadic fashion truck, and an extra special wine tasting paired with some great food from Classic Events. A great summer evening filled with art, fashion, wine, food and of course, fun!

John Davis is a resident of Salado and friends with the owners of Salado Winery.  He was chosen to be featured in the winery gallery because his art reflects the eclecticism of the new businesses and artists that are redefining Salado.  John Davis says,

English is my second language after Art. I can express wordless ideas and places by creating them on a two dimensional surface. The illusion of the multi-dimensional world created on a flat plane is fascinating. Depth with all its mystery sparks my enthusiasm for creating space and filling it with artful shapes.

Artists like Max Earnst , Claes Oldenburg and Dr Suess are inspirational to me as are Silver Age Comic greats like James F. “Jim” Steranko, Jack Kirby and John Buscema . Influenced by Richard Scary, Mad Magazine and Science Fiction my art has evolved into what I like to call visual stream of consciousness.  In creating a piece, I want to fill the canvas with imagery and action to draw viewers in for close inspection that requires more than one visit. Using pencil, pen, brushes, spray paint and collage I encourage viewers to explore and discover personal messages via nostalgic icons of film, Americana or pop culture iconography”.

In addition to meeting the artist, a special food and wine pairing will be offered. The food will be prepared by Classic Catering.  The chef and his staff have carefully crafted a menu to pair with select Salado Winery wines. Tickets are available for $24.95 at www.saladowinery.com.
