Grainger, who owns the Silver Spur theater business, says he didn’t know until the Secret Service showed up: Grainger on KWTX. The Silver Spur Theater is a wonderful place to rent for private events or even better, attend one of their performances!
Another story on KWTX!
And INSIDE EDITION interviewed Will Lowery who runs Inn on the Creek where the bridal luncheon was.
This the rehearsal dinner was at Old Salado Celebrations Center. You can read about it in an article by People Magazine.
This blog entry from Dallas morning news gives the details of the food from the Range, cooked by Katie and Dave Hermann.
We are so excited in Salado! Everyone is abuzz with rumors of the First Family in Salado for Jenna Bush’s wedding. We were hoping Jenna might come by with her friends and sample some Texas wines with her girlfriends. Instead, we were visited by Anna who brought her out-of-town wedding guests and everyone sampled the wines of the day. Their favorite was the Austin St. Comanche Rose wine from Brennan Vineyards in Comanche, Texas. Anna will be married at the Inn at Salado at the same time as Jenna Bush’s wedding.
Oops! I left Sheldon at the wine shop for 30 minutes and missed the presidential motorcade pass by! I’ll have to settle for the footage shot by KWTX of the motorcade on Main Street.
If you are looking for a good cup of coffee in town I really enjoy the coffee at Uncommon Grounds. It is good hot or cold. They also have Mochas and things along those lines as well. http://www.salado.com/dine_info.cfm?id=698
Every November, Scottish clans from all around gather in Salado for competitions, geneology workshops, bagpipes and lots of kilts. You have to see it to believe it!
And if you don’t have your own kilt, maybe you should be a kilt inspector!
So my husband and father-in-law took me to a new restaurant tonight and I fell in love with it. It is Johnnie’s BBQ (located right behind the Dairy Queen in Salado) http://johnnyssteaksandbbq.com/ . They had the Steak for two and I had the Stuffed baked potato. Both meals were WONDERFUL!!! Their steak was perfectly done with a nice seasoning on it and my baked potato was to die for! The stuffed baked potato is a big potato cut in half with sour cream, chopped brisket (with BBQ sause on it) and shredded cheddar cheese on top! The atmosphere is really neat too. They have lots of pictures and other things on the walls. The other nice thing is that you can take your own beer and wine in, to drink with your meal. If you are in the mood for BBQ or a nice salad or sandwich with laid back atmosphere. I would definitally recommend it!
Check this out! These folks drove around Salado and recorded some of the great things to see in Salado, but if you fast forward to 3:30, you’ll see that these folks turned off the camera when they passed the wine shop!!
Folks, don’t miss SALADO WINE SELLER! We are between the Salado Civic Center and Fletcher’s Books and Antiques, at 881-B North Main St. (behind Merle Norman and Etrulia’s). Stop by and have a glass of Texas wine, no tour of Salado is complete with out it.
Join us! 1st & 2nd weekend in December.
