Join Linda Woznica, from Salado Yarn Co. , for our first ever “Sip ‘n Knit”.  Bring your favorite knitting project for a casual gathering of knitters (and crocheters) where everyone brings whatever they are working on and we sit around together and talk, share,  help one another, and one other thing – We drink wine! $5 glass of wine will be available. All levels of knitters  are welcome but  please keep in mind there are no lessons. Linda will have supplies so you can knit a wine bottle scarf.  What?  You heard us right, you can make a scarf to keep your favorite bottle cozy.  So don’t be shy, come on by!

Saturday, February 9, 5-9 pm,  The Village of Salado invites you to its first annual “Salado on the Rocks.”

“Take life with a grain of salt, a slice of lime and a shot of Salado.”

This one-day event promises to satisfy all of your culinary delights from enjoying Salado signature tastings to enjoying local cuisine and late night shopping.

The “Salado on the Rocks” will be held throughout the Village of Salado. The following Salado stops are:

Salado Creek Winery where you will enjoy a Caprese Salad (Buffalo Mozzarella, Heirloom Tomato and Basil Drizzle) paired with their Salado Creek “Wine-tini.” At Alexander’s Distillery you will be treated to an Herb Crusted Carpaccio Crostini with Arugula and a hand blended Shallot and Thyme Vinaigrette paired with Truman’ Red Martini. At your next stop at The Range you will enjoy Crispy smoked Trout Brandade with Extra Virgin Olive Oil paired with the Famous Col. Spears Pan American Cocktail. Please enjoy a Diamond Back Red wine and handmade cheddar cheese at the Salado Wine Seller. At our newest tavern, The Shed, you will be served Frito Chili Pie with their very own Shed Lemonade. At our historic Stagecoach Inn you will be treated to their famous Salado Hushpuppies along with their Stagecoach Southern Iced Tea. At Rising Star Vineyards you will have Cajun Jambalaya in celebration of Mardi Gras month and Salado Wine Spritzers.

This is a ticketed event for $23.95 per person and only the first 400 lucky people will be able to attend this new event, so make your reservations early! Tickets must be purchased in advance at www.saladoevents.com.

Grateful for the rain, but…

it may be overgrown but I promise, we’re open

I’m so glad to see the green grass & certainly the trees need the rain.  Even better, the vines don’t need much irrigation when we get plenty of rain.  BUT it is difficult to keep up with the yard work and this wild morning-glory has overtaken my sign up front!  I assure you, we are OPEN, despite looking a wee bit abandoned, and when the wild purple flowers bloom, it looks kind of cool.

My other excuse is of course that I’ve been busy with Baby Grape & lots of winemaking.

2012 Chocolate & Wine Weekend

September 21-23, 2012

We can’t wait! Soon it will be time for the weekend of chocolate & wine.

The weekend kickoff begins on Friday evening, September 21, with an Evening of Chocolate & Wine ($44.95) from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Salado Wine Seller. Guests will be invited to savor the taste of premier Texas wines paired with decadent chocolates. The Evening of Chocolate & Wine will feature the finest in artisan chocolates and wine tasting from Texas vineyards.

Then on Saturday, September 22, from 2-6 pm, $32.95, we’ll be taking part in the chocolate trail. Enjoy a eight stop “Chocolate Trail” from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. throughout the Village of Salado. Your chocolate trail stops include Salado Wine Seller, Brookshire Brothers, Charlotte’s of Salado, Prellop Fine Art Gallery, Susan Maries, Side by Side, Salado Creek Winery, Strawberry Patch, and. Transportation will be provided.

Then Saturday, September 22, 7:00 – 9:00 pm, we’ll have “Folk & Brownies”. For $9.95 cover charge, we’ll have music by Jiminy Crisket, light hors d’ouevres and of course chocolate brownies.

He was born at the end of July and he weighed 9 lbs, 14 oz!  His mom & dad are still arguing over his name, so for now we’ll just keep calling him ‘Baby Grape’

The following Texas wineries and Salado shops participating are:  Salado Creek Winery will be hosted at Salado Glassworks; Salado Wine Seller will be hosted at Salado Wine Seller; Fiesta Vineyards will be hosted by Springhouse; Rising Star Vineyards will be hosted by Charlotte’s of Salado; Journey Vineyards will be hosted by Prellop Fine Art Gallery; Georgetown Winery will be hosted by Inn on the Creek and Dancing Bee Winery will be hosted by Salado Mercantile, The Vineyard at Florence will be hosted by Horsefeathers, and Inwood Estates Vineyard will be hosted by The Range.
