If too hot, rainy or windy, music will be indoors.

Jammin’ on the Lawn

Come out saturday Aug 21st and enjoy a glass of GREAT  Texas Wine while listening to Dow Ferguson from 4-7pm. If the weather is nice it will be outside. But lets be realistic…… nice weather in Aug in Texas?????????? It will most likely be inside where we will all be able to stay cool! See you there!

WE ARE MAKING WINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are all super excited that we have the opportunity to start making wine at our shop this year!!!! The Black Rock Vineyard Association brought over 2 barrels and some other equipment this past weekend. They added the necessary ingrediants and now we get to stir and mash multiple times every day. We are going to start harvesting and making wine from our own vineyard this upcomming weekend the 21st & 22nd of Aug. Here are some pictures of the process. We will keep you updated. Stop by the shop to check it out in person!

Bringing in the Barrels! Sat Aug 14th

Talking about the Wine Making!

This is what it looks like the same day it was picked after the grapes are put through the 1st press. Mostly to get the stems and leaves out and to break the skins so the juice will come out.

Jammin’ on the Lawn, SAT AUG 7th

Saturday, August 7, 2010, 4-7 pm

Come down to Salado for a fun Saturday!  First, swing by Pace Park for the 44th Annual Art Fair.  The Art Fair will be open from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Aug. 7 and 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Aug. 8 p.m. Art strollers will be able to enjoy live music being performed in the park pavilion. Refreshments will be available throughout the grounds of the fair.
Admission is $5 for adults and children under 12 are free.

When you get hot & tired and thirsty for some Texas wine, head our direction for Jammin’ on the Lawn.  We’ll have the Leisure Seekers (the band formerly known as Harebilly) from 4-7 pm.  If the weather is nice they’ll play outdoors, but if it rains, is too windy, or too hot which is likely, we’ll have the music indoors.  Feel free to bring snacks, lawn chairs and money for their tip jar.  All alcohol must be purchased from us.

After that, you might enjoy Adelea’s on Main where they’ll be celebrating their 2nd anniversary with a picnic on the lawn and classic rock performance by the band Steering South.  If you prefer indoors, we highly recommend “Fools Gold” at the Silver Spur Theater.  In their sixth annual original melodrama, the peaceful village of Salado succumbs to an outbreak of Gold Fever, brought on by the villainous Larsen E. Sneedhearne. Can Ranger Grainger save Goody Goody and the Salado citizenry from the peril that ensues?  Look for the scene featuring Yoga & Wine at Salado Wine Seller!

Only a few days left to enter UNCORKED!

Yes folks!  Only a few more days left to enter UNCORKED!  The 2nd annual Juried Art Show at Salado Wine Seller

We’ve had several entries so far.  Many painters and a few mixed media.  I’m quite anxious to find some 3-D art so if you sculpt, carve, cast, blow glass or anything else attractive, please enter this indoor exhibit.

The Power of Intention

Yoga & Wine, 2nd Thursday each month

Yoga & Wine

I just heard a story about how the intention of a food producer can affect those who consume the food.  I was listening to “Splendid Table” on KUT, when Lynn spoke to Dean Radin of the Institute of Noetic Sciences.  The example used in the program was your mother’s soup.  A large name-brand corporation can make a can of soup with the same ingredients as your mother, but your mother’s soup makes you feel so much better.  How can this happen?  When your mother made the soup, she had good intentions.  They’ve done experiments with chocolate where monks set intentions over the chocolate and in a double-blind experiment, folks who ate the chocolate that had been meditated on had a better mood than the folks who ate the plain ole’ chocolate.  If you think this sounds too good to be true, check out Intentional Chocolate

Better yet, know that when we make our wines at Salado Winery Company, we infuse it with the intention that it will be enjoyed by all and fill you with peace & love.  Heck, we even practice yoga here to keep our intentions healthy, create a union of mind, body & spirit, and contribute to the mindful wellness of the community around us.

And speaking of chocolate, the tickets are on sale for the Salado Weekend of Chocolate & Wine which will be the last weekend in September.
