Her record is titled “Rusty Words”. 8 songs/stories are in English. 2 are in Spanish. From her website…
It’s a first attempt at documenting a piece of me. A first attempt at trying to express all the oddly integral and seemingly opposite things that make up a small portion of what I have experienced and put those things into a melody and into..well let’s just call them “rusty words”. You try and try but words can’t always encompass a life, an experience, or even a mere moment very well.
She believes in miracles. She believes that God is bigger than all the dreams she can muster up for herself and so are His dreams for each one of us. With that in mind,  “Rusty Words” will be available so that you too can hold a piece of my heart tangibly in your hands and join me as she begins this new approach to her musical journey.

"Cheers" by Holly Dunn

ARTIST’S RECEPTION

Who:  HOLLY DUNN

When:  Friday, November 5, 2010, 5-8 pm

Join us on Friday, November 5, 5-8 pm when Holly Dunn will be on hand to discuss her art show “Cheers to Art“. The Salado Winery gallery will be filled with Holly Dunn’s beautiful paintings which will be available for sale through January 2011.

Holly Dunn spent 25 years in the Country Music industry as an award winning composer, producer and recording artist. From her 10 albums, Holly garnered 14 top ten hits, 4 number 1’s and awards from every music entity including, The Academy of Country Music “New Female Vocalist” award, The CMA “Horizon” award, and 3 Grammy Award nominations. One of her most beloved and enduring songs, “Daddy’s Hands, is listed in the Top 100 Greatest Country Songs ever recorded.

In 2003, after an exciting career of hit records, world tours, and TV appearances, Holly kept a long held promise to herself stepping away from music, trading her guitar for pastels and a quieter life.  She now finds her artistic inspiration in the imagery of Texas and the Desert Southwest; its architecture, natural wonders and cultural icons.

In 2009 Holly moved from Santa Fe, NM where she had been living since leaving Nashville, and settled near family in Central Texas.

Of her art Holly says, “I love the high contrast of intense light and deep shadow. There is a magical time of day, morning and evening, when the light is low in the sky, shadows deepen and everything seems lit with from within. Capturing those fleeting moments is my passion.” She dedicates all her work to the “Original Creator” and indeed, there is an unmistakable spiritual quality in all of her work.

Live Music Nov 13

Saturday, November 13, 4-7 pm

Join us for live music by the band Schade Tree!  If it is warm & sunny we’ll be outdoors so bring snacks, lawn chair, and so on.  If it is wet, windy or cold, we’ll move indoors.

Acoustic guitars, banjo, mandolin, and fiddle are the instruments of choice for members of the Schade Tree Band. The Belton based folk-bluegrass band has been playing together for the past 6 years locally for private parties, restaurants, and festivals. The variety of musical selections is one of the traits of the band as are the three-part harmony spicing up the band’s sound. Song choices range from rock-n-roll to country from bluegrass to old-time and folk music from the 1800s. The concert will mark the release their new CD entitled Bluebird. Beside traditional and more recent tunes, the album features 3 original songs written by John Schade.

The main drive to perform comes from band leader John Schade who sings most of the lead vocals. Gloria Holle plays the fiddle, guitar, and mandolin and sings many of the tunes giving the group even more variety with female vocals. Willis Patton plays the electric bass and delights audiences with his harmonica and blues style vocals. Hershall Seals accompanies on the guitar and vocals. Three-part harmony rounds out the flavoring of how the band’s signature sound.

In true folk tradition, The Schade Tree Band members are musicians in the evening but are busy with other walks of life during the day. John is a stone mason while Gloria is the Director of an Early Childhood Intervention program. Hershall is an art teacher at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and Willis works for the Highway Department. As different as they all are from one another, there is a genuine bond of joy for playing music and performing together. Audiences key in to how much fun the musicians have making for an enjoyable and entertaining time of just plain good music. More information can be found on schadetreeband.com.

There’s lots going on this day in Salado.  Be sure to check out the Meeting of the Scottish Clans nearby at the Salado Civic Center and if you’ve got kids, they’re sure to enjoy the Creekside Carnival and Fall Fandango,
